Winnipeg, MB. – March 7, 2016 – The Nielsen Enterprises Grand Finale at the Lake Geneva Resort always produces some of the best racing of the season and last weekend was no exception. The massive ski hill course had to be reduced in size due to the lack of snow in the region, but the early spring conditions meant a large turnout of spectators and a generally festive mood throughout the event.
Marica Renheim gave everyone something to celebrate when she won the Pro AM Women’s final on Saturday, clinching her third straight championship in a class which featured some of the toughest competition it has ever produced.
Sadly, Marica announced that she is retiring from racing at the series banquet on Sunday night. The team will miss having her on board next season and wishes her all the best as she begins the next chapter in her life.
The Pro Open class featured three consecutive days of racing at the season finale and Adam Renheim started it off battling to a fourth place in one of the best races in recent years. The top four riders crossed the finish line less than five seconds apart, with Adam pressuring multi-time and 2016 class champion Tucker Hibbert right to the checkered flag.
On Saturday, Adam used racing wit to finish second in the main event on a course that featured a unique “joker lane” shortcut that competitor had to utilize one time during the race. Renheim made his move while the lane was in its fastest condition positioning himself for a podium finish.
Renheim would round out the weekend with an eighth place finish in Sunday’s final which was shown live on the CBS Sports Network.
It was a season of highlights for the team and we want to thank all of our fans and sponsors who have been such a big part of making it happen.
